Protection, built into every account.
Leverage magnifies gains and losses alike. These are the protections that come with every 333 Markets account, and exactly how each one works.
Negative balance protection
Your balance has a floor.
If a fast market moves against your positions, your account balance can’t go below zero. You can’t lose more than the money in your account.
- Prices can gap past a stop-loss when markets open or news breaks.
- If a gap leaves your account below zero, the balance is brought back to zero.
- You won’t be asked to cover a negative balance on an eligible account.
- Applies to
- Every Core and Raw account
Limits you set
Your plan, applied to your account.
Choose a leverage lower than the maximum available to you and set a daily loss limit. When your plan changes, change your limits.
- Apply a leverage lower than the maximum available to your account.
- Set a daily loss limit that matches your trading plan.
- Review your limits whenever your plan or circumstances change.

- When a loss limit is reached
- New orders are paused until the next trading day. Open positions stay open.
- Raising a limit
- Lowering a limit applies straight away. Raising one takes effect after 24 hours.
Margin rules, explained
Know the levels before you trade.
Your margin-call and stop-out levels are set out in plain terms before you trade, alongside every cost and charge on your account.
- Margin is the amount set aside from your equity to open a position.
- At the margin-call level you are warned that equity is running low.
- At the stop-out level, open positions start to close automatically.
- Margin call
- 100% margin level
- Stop-out
- 50% margin level
- Closure order
- The position with the largest loss closes first
What protection can’t do.
Protection limits how much you can lose. It doesn’t stop losses from happening, and no setting makes a leveraged product safe.
- CFDs are complex, leveraged products and carry a high risk of losing money rapidly.
- A stop-loss doesn’t guarantee your exit price when markets gap or move quickly.
- Past results, including demo results, don’t indicate future returns.
CFDs are complex instruments and carry a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford the risk of losing your money.
